Most gardeners think in terms of tending to their garden “with” love. This post asks us to tend to your garden “of” love.
What’s in your garden
A gardener chooses what he or she would like to grow. She may grow items for their beauty that others may smile as they look upon them. She may grow items to nourish the hungry. Now, imagine what that same gardener could do if seeds of love were to be sown.
When love is grown and harvested for distribution, it’s beauty is available for everyone. It nourishes a thousand hungry souls. Just one petal of that love can answer a hundred problems. It can respond to a thousand situations. It can support a million persons in need. There is no limit to what just one mighty petal can do.
Keep a pocket full of petals on hand
When you drive down the road and someone cuts you off, instead of expressing anger with your horn, express love with a flower from your garden. Keep a flower on hand to soothe every irritation. Lay the petals on every path that others may have safe passage. Keep a pocket full in case someone needs its sustenance. Yes, this garden is in your mind. But, so is every difficulty in which the need for a flower lies.
When a situation arises in which love is the furthest thing from your mind, know that you made God the furthest thing as well. In those moments, affirm that “God and I are One™.” Doing so reminds you that you are never far from a garden teeming with God’s love. And, in that garden, the sun is always shining.
