It’s time to quit working at the Fear Factory

Today, we work on recognizing fear for what it is… and what it is not. Let’s start with what it is not. Fear is not love. Whatever love is, fear is the opposite.

Love is the absence of fear. Where love is, fear cannot exist. However, it cannot be said that fear is the absence of love because love cannot, not exist. For love not to exist, it would mean that God could not exist.

God is love as love is God. The two are inseparable because the two are the same. Love is how we experience God as human beings. Love is how we remember our connection to God. When we feel love, regardless of who or what we think the object of this love is, we feel God.

Welcome to the Fear Factory

When the ego defiantly denies God, it unwittingly denies love. The pretend world created by the ego is the source of every ill from generalized anxiety to crippling fear. Fear, then, appears in the form of pain, suffering, anger, frustration, and discomfort. We have to give the ego credit for one thing, though. It churns out fear as fast and efficiently as a factory churns out corn chips.

As we have discussed numerous times, it is not possible to be separated from God. Nevertheless, when we go to work for the ego at its Fear Factory, we enter a place of make-believe in which the ego demands our allegiance to its claim that God is not real. How is this even possible, you ask?

As children, we create all kinds of pretend worlds. Over time, we grow and mature, but the ego does not. The ego, much like Peter Pan, is the child who never grows up. The only difference is that the ego today is the CEO of the Fear Factory. As you might correctly guess, its only product is fear.

The fear manufactured by the Fear Factory is designed and sold to people who secretly wish to experience fear. The product works by producing a masking effect. When properly used, it blocks out love. In reality, however, it is not possible to block out love. As everyone knows, a storm cloud can appear to mask the rays of the sun, but it cannot make the sun disappear.

The employee roster of the Fear Factory

We all experience fear throughout our lives. And, please don’t kid yourself about this one. The ego is the world’s most prolific generator of fear. Its output exceeds the top manufacturing companies in the world. What’s most interesting about this is the fact that the ego only has one employee… you!

As an employer, the ego violates all employee protection laws. It keeps you bound to its unyielding demands on a 24/7 basis without so much as a five minute break. It expects you to kowtow to its every whim. Whenever we ask for a break, the ego sends us back out to the factory floor with even more worrisome thoughts. So, we train ourselves to stop asking for a break and surrender to the inevitable suffering.

Time to put in your notice

Today, we make the decision to quit the Fear Factory and be forever free from fear. We recognize that the power to do so has always been ours. The factory never existed. Consequently, it was only the ego’s dream. Yes, for a time we willingly participated in the dream of separation from God. But, today is different.

We now know that fear, to be a real effect, needs a real cause. Since the Fear Factory is the ego’s imagination, it can only produce an imagined effect. This means we have been working for a boss whose only hold over us is the misuse of imagination.

God is our new boss

Today, we change our boss to God. We walk out of the Fear Factory for the last time. In doing so, we produce love instead of fear. God gives us choices we never before imagined. The ego had us working in an environment where fierce competition and limited supply reigned supreme. Now, God shows us that we are all one. And, when one of us benefits, we all benefit.

As our former employer, the ego barked orders that perpetuated separation. We were bound ever tightly to fear. Now, God gently directs us to heal the ego’s dream with unconditional forgiveness. This brings us even closer to love.

We give thanks for our release from the bondage of the ego. God, we thank you for the opportunity to work for you and freely extend love. We give thanks for the opportunity to receive love as we extend it. The affirmation “God and I Are One™” shall forevermore be our daily prayer of thanks.
